At Boathouse Physiotherapy we pride ourselves on having excellent, highly trained physiotherapists who provide you with high quality, evidence based and effective treatment. We work closely with your GP and the health care team to optimise your recovery, rehabilitation and the continuity of your care.Physiotherapy can be helpful for people of all ages with a wide range of health conditions, including problems affecting the bones, joints and soft tissue – such as back pain, neck pain, joint pain, osteoarthritis, work-related conditions and sports injuries. Physiotherapy helps to restore movement and function and it can also help to reduce your risk of injury or illness in the future.We are excited to be now offering self-referrals from you as patients. However, if you have any of the below please see your GP or other health services first and if they deem it appropriate they can refer to onto us.
The self-referral service cannot see.
• Anyone in their own home (i.e. are housebound in the short or long term)
.• Anyone with respiratory conditions.
• Anyone with neurological conditions.
• Anyone needing post amputation services (requires a specialist referral)
• Anyone under the age of 7 years old.
• Anyone under 16 years old without a GP referral
• Anyone needing emergency treatment (serious and life-threatening health situations). Please consult NHS 111 or your GP.
We recommend you consult your GP or NHS 111 urgently if you have recently or suddenly developed any of the following:·
Difficulty passing urine or controlling bladder/bowels.
Numbness or tingling around the back passage or genitals.
Numbness, pins and needles or weakness in both legs.
Please discuss with your GP before submitting a referral if you:·
Are feeling generally unwell or have a fever.
Have any unexplained weight loss.
Have a history of cancer.
Have recently become unsteady on your feet.
Howto initiate your NHS Physiotherapy appointment:
Please fill out the form and submit your request for physio. Forms will be assessed daily by a physio and our receptionist will call you within 3 working days to organise an appointment. The average waiting time for an appointment is approximately 3 weeks. Our great admin team are on hand to help in any way they can so if you cannot make an appointment that has been arranged, please ring us with at least 48 hours’notice so that we can keep our waiting list down and provide everyone with thes ervice they would expect.
The focus for NHS physiotherapy is self-management, advice and exercises first, with“hands-on” treatments, in time, if required. There are a maximum number of sessions available, and patients are usually discharged when it is expected that their condition will continue to improve using the self-management tools provided.
Boathouse Physiotherapy does provide other services privately which can be used to supplement/ whilst on the NHS waiting list or to further your rehabilitation.
